At 92, Hem Chandra Mahato from Palma village, Barabazar block, is a pioneer of Purulia Chhau. Beginning at age 12 under his father and grandfather’s guidance, he became known for performances like Mel Naach and Krishnalila. His dedication gave a new identity to Purulia Chhau.
