Gouranga Dhal of Rengalbeda represents the new generation of Chhau gurus who blend scholarship with practice. With a Master of Performing Arts degree (2023), he trained under a range of eminent gurus — Trilochan Mohanta, Ramaniranjan Jena, Gouramohan Mohanta and Bhabani Biswal. Despite his academic focus, Gouranga is deeply rooted in the grassroots, offering training at Bhanjabhumi Chhau Nrutya Pratisthan, Jayshiba Club and Garidhi Yubak Sangha. His approach unites classical rigour with community engagement, ensuring Chhau remains both authentic and accessible.
