From the small hamlet of Pithakutust, Dibar Naik’s journey reflects sheer perseverance. Though under-matric by formal education, he honed his art under Guru Sei Krishno Singh Mohanta, Guru Ramaniranjan Mohanta and Guru Achintya Kumar Behera at the Mayur Art Centre, Bhubaneswar. His performances have carried Mayurbhanj Chhau across India — from Kharavela Festival, Puri Beach Festival and Brahan Natyanjali in Tamil Nadu, to stages in Mysore, Assam, Manipur, Nepal and Bangalore. Awards from the District Council of Culture and numerous festivals cemented his reputation. Today Dibar is equally respected for shaping young dancers at Arun Chhau Nrutya Pratisthan, Sansimila, transmitting the precision and energy he himself learned on tour.
